Albi and the Wolves (Ak)
|Friday, December 08, 2017|
Starts 7:30 pm
Albi & The Wolves bring back the energy, life, and dynamic that only a string band can with their unique brand of soul filled folk music. The combination of proud albino front man Chris George Dent, electric fiddle player Pascal Roggen, and Micheal Young on double bass can invigorate a room or enthral them with their truly diverse sound.
Infusing country elements, traces of RnB, indie-rock and pop, Albi & the Wolves blow the crowd away with their energy-fuelled live performances. Beyond the music, their engagement with the audience is second to none as humour is a large part of what sets them apart. Their off the cuff humour plays into the journey of each performance no matter the circumstances.
Albi & The Wolves have built up phenomenal momentum in the last two years, playing over 400 live shows including the Auckland and Wellington Folk Festivals, The New Plymouth Festival Of Lights, Wellington Gardens Magic, Music In Parks, Taste Of Auckland Festival, Whare Flat Folk Festival, and Coro Summer Fest. They have released both an EP, full length album, two singles with videos, and racked up over 28,000 listens on SoundCloud alone.
Their music has attracted a considerable amount of press attention, with media coverage in publications such as Ponsonby News,SaliantMagazine, the New Zealand Herald, Bilboard USA, The Listener, Second Hand Newsand many more. Radio highlights include Jesse Mulligans Christmas Special and Music 101 on Radio New Zealand, and a performance alongside Dave Dobbyn on Radio Hauraki.
Their first international release (in collaboration with Mt Eden Dubstep) “Fall With You” has received almost a million plays on YouTube and the single's success continues to grow. Their own singles “Remember Your Name” and "One Eye Open" have been selected as part of NZ On Airs New Tracks playlists and their debut album "One Eye Open" reached a Top 10 slot in the New Zealand HEATSEAKER Chart.
Chris, Pascal and Micheal share a drive and passion for music, the road, and people, so it's safe to say that the future is bright for Albi & the Wolves. With more festival appearances on the horizon, now’s the time to check them out before they leave our shores!
