Bill is a familiar face to us now and we know many of his songs - they stick to you like mud. He has a lyrical sensibility that is unrivalled by local songwriters; think Billy Bragg or Paul Kelly. His gritty presentation and wry observation make for compelling listening. Bill plays for us from his acoustic guitar, but his debut album - Mud - features the garagey sound of his band, the Mark IV's. Either way the songs are robust and leave you wondering if you really just heard what you thought you did - often borne out by the short but poignant gap between the end of the song and the enthusiastic applause.
