It is two years since Richard Dingwall brought his group The Wilding Pines to the Dunedin Folk Club as part of their World Tour of Dunedin. Then they were celebrating the release of a live album Telegraph Road. Now with a fresh set of songs and some new versions of old ones comes the Flat Pack Band.
Read Hudson (Dobro and banjo) and Lawrence O'Callaghan from the Pines are joined by Read's brother Chris Hudson on bass and Fiona Cambridge on vocals.Richard writes: “These twelve songs seem to me to be the cream of the work I have produced over the last five years. Some will be familiar to regular folk club attenders, some have never been performed in public before. One song is the fruit of a collaboration with the Christchurch songwriter LisaTui. We have aimed for the same acoustic string band that was characteristic of The Wilding Pines but the music is more varied with a greater range of songwriting. I hope you can come out and enjoy our twelve songs.”
